Prospecting

Investigations of the bedrock with the aim of finding extractable minerals and metals are called prospecting.

Did you know that:

The person who works with prospecting is called a geologist and works to find clues to where important metals such as copper, gold and nickel are found in large quantities.

The properties of minerals and metals are important knowledge for a geologist.

Bedrock that contains sufficiently high levels of minerals and metals for extraction is called a deposit.

Rocks and minerals in a deposit are called ore.

A deposit can contain several ores and many different metals.

Before mining can start, permits must be approved.
