Your Future Workforce

Our vision is ambitious: Richer Learning Experiences for… A brighter future, stronger skills development, a better Skellefteå!

Skellefteå — and Sweden — need to find and develop the next generation of talent in science and technology. Through hands-on experiences and interactive learning, Exploratoriet inspires a new generation to explore STEM fields.

Because learning should be fun.

We are facing a significant skills shortage in science and technology-related professions. In Skellefteå — a city strongly connected to industry and technology — we take this challenge seriously. That is why Skellefteå Municipality, together with companies in the region, established a science center.

Where Learning is Fun

Exploratoriet is an inspiring arena where knowledge becomes exciting and accessible.

We fill an entire building at Nordanå with experiments and engaging challenges. Physics, chemistry, technology, astronomy and ecology — visitors can explore science from many different perspectives.

Interactivity, curiosity and playfulness spark interest in technical and scientific careers among young visitors — and quite possibly awaken the child within adult visitors as well.

Our strong educational foundation is reinforced through close collaboration between schools, universities, companies and other partners — locally in Skellefteå and the surrounding region, as well as nationally and internationally.

Our primary focus is children and young people in preschool, primary and upper secondary school. At the same time, Exploratoriet is an attraction for visitors and a memorable experience for the whole family.

There are around twenty Science Centers in Sweden, organised within the Swedish Science Centre Association (FSSC). Exploratoriet is proud to be the twentieth member of FSSC.
